Effective communication is the foundation of a cohesive roleplay environment. Our chat systems—both In-Character (IC) and Out-of-Character (OOC)—are designed to facilitate clear interaction while protecting the immersive experience of all players.

In-Character (IC) Chat

  • Contextual Relevance: All text and voice communication in the game world must remain strictly in-character. Your language, tone, and information shared must reflect your character's knowledge, personality, and current situation.
  • Proximity and Medium: Use the appropriate channels provided by the game. If you are whispering, do not use a global channel. If you are on a phone, use the designated phone mechanics.
  • Clarity: While character dialects are encouraged to add flavor, ensure your text is legible and understandable to other players so that roleplay can progress without confusion.

Out-of-Character (OOC) Chat

  • Separation of Worlds: OOC chat is reserved for necessary technical discussions, reporting emergencies, or clarifying rules. It should never be used to discuss in-game events, secrets, or character motivations.
  • Respectful Discourse: Even when outside of your character, you are expected to maintain the same level of respect and civility required in-character. Toxicity, insults, or "trash talk" in OOC channels are strictly prohibited.
  • Minimalism: Keep OOC communication to a minimum during active scenes. If a technical issue arises that requires a pause, alert the other parties briefly and clearly, then return to the scene as soon as the issue is resolved.

Prohibited Chat Behaviors

  • Spamming: Flooding the chat with repeated messages, irrelevant text, or excessive symbols is disruptive and will result in temporary muting or warnings.
  • Hate Speech & Harassment: Any chat (IC or OOC) containing slurs, discriminatory language, or targeted personal harassment will lead to immediate and permanent removal from the server.
  • Advertising: Promoting other communities, servers, or external services within our chat channels is not permitted.
  • Metagaming via Chat: Using OOC chat to leak information that your character would not know (e.g., "Hey, I'm heading to the bank right now, come meet me!") is a violation of our core roleplay rules.
Use /me and /do commands to describe your character's actions and environment. This enriches the narrative and provides necessary context that static text chat cannot always convey.
Abuse of Communication
Misusing OOC channels to harass players, bait arguments, or bypass rules is a serious offense. Remember that all chat logs are recorded and monitored; what you type remains in the permanent record of your account.
