Microphone

Clear and professional voice communication is essential for maintaining the quality of our roleplay. Because this is a voice-driven environment, the quality of your audio directly impacts the experience of everyone you interact with.

Technical Expectations

• Audio Quality: Ensure your microphone is clear and free of significant background noise, such as loud fans, music, television, or barking pets. If your audio is consistently distorted or difficult to understand, you may be asked to resolve the issue before continuing play.
• Push-to-Talk: We highly recommend using a "Push-to-Talk" key. This prevents "hot-mic" situations where private conversations, keyboard clacking, or ambient household noise are broadcasted into the game, breaking the immersion for others.
• Volume Balancing: Please calibrate your input volume so you are neither too quiet (forcing others to ask you to repeat yourself) nor too loud (causing audio clipping that is painful to listen to).

Communication Etiquette

• In-Character Voice: Your voice should remain in-character at all times while in the game world. Avoid "out-of-character" commentary, explanations, or complaining while your character is actively speaking to others.
• Voice Modulation: Using voice changers to enhance your roleplay (e.g., to sound like an elderly person or a specific character archetype) is permitted, provided the audio remains clear and understandable. However, using voice changers to hide your identity to troll or bypass moderation is strictly prohibited.
• Language: Keep language appropriate for the city’s setting. While character-specific dialects or slang are encouraged, avoid excessive profanity that becomes disruptive or aggressive in general interactions.

Prohibited Microphone Behaviors

• Soundboarding: Playing music, sound effects, or clips from movies/media through your microphone is not allowed. All sounds heard in the game should be a result of the actual in-game environment.
• Mic Spamming: Intentionally shouting, making erratic noises, or flooding voice channels is a form of trolling and will lead to immediate sanctioning.
• OOC-in-IC: Do not use your voice to discuss out-of-character mechanics, such as "Press E to open this" or "My game is lagging." If a technical issue requires OOC intervention, do so via text chat or by briefly stating "OOC break" before moving to a private channel.
