Breaking Character

Our server maintains a high standard of immersion, and "Breaking Character" (also known as "Breaking IC") occurs when a player stops acting as their persona and begins speaking or acting based on their real-world self, OOC knowledge, or administrative frustrations while inside the game world.

  • Maintain the Persona: From the moment you spawn in until you log out, you are your character. Any communication that is not intended for your character to hear or say must be kept strictly OOC via proper chat channels (e.g., using /ooc or platform-specific OOC channels).
  • Handle Disputes OOC: If you have an issue with another player's roleplay, do not stop the scene to argue in local voice or text chat. Continue the roleplay to the best of your ability, then handle the situation afterward through a Discord ticket or staff report.
  • Avoid OOC Commentary: Comments regarding bugs, lag, or "rule breaks" should never be voiced in-game. Discussing these topics IC pulls everyone out of the narrative and disrupts the flow of the city.
  • Technical Issues: If you must break character due to a genuine technical emergency (e.g., your game is crashing or you have a family emergency), provide a brief, polite notification in OOC chat before disconnecting.
Complaining about server rules, staff decisions, or other players' roleplay quality in public voice chat is considered a disruption of immersion. It creates a toxic atmosphere and discourages others from participating in the scene.
Hostile OOC Behavior
Using OOC to demean, belittle, or harass other players during a roleplay scenario will not be tolerated. Players who cannot separate their personal feelings from their character's actions will be removed from the server.
