Metagaming

Metagaming is the act of using information obtained outside of the game world—or information your character could not possibly know—to influence your character's decisions or actions in-character. This behavior fundamentally destroys the integrity of the roleplay environment and provides an unfair advantage over others.

  • Boundary Separation: Information learned in Discord (OOC), through live streams (stream sniping), or via group chats must never be used by your character unless that information was also discovered through organic, in-character means.
  • Knowledge Isolation: If your character did not witness an event, receive a phone call, or participate in a conversation, they do not know what happened. You cannot act on information simply because you, the player, saw it happen elsewhere.
  • External Media: You may not use maps, player lists, or external databases to locate other players or track their movements for in-game benefit.
  • OOC-to-IC Transitions: Using OOC channels to arrange in-game meetings or to share location data is strictly prohibited. If you need to coordinate something, do it through your character's phone or in-game radio.
Metagaming is often difficult to detect, but we utilize server logs to cross-reference character actions with OOC communications. If your character consistently "knows" things they shouldn't, you will be flagged for review.
Zero Tolerance
Intentional metagaming, such as stream sniping or using discord groups to coordinate tactical movements, will result in immediate administrative action, up to and including a permanent ban from the community.
