New Life Rule (NLR)
The New Life Rule (NLR) is a core component of our roleplay experience. It ensures that death has lasting consequences and prevents players from "revenge killing" or immediately returning to a scene that ended in their character's demise.
- Memory Loss: Upon "dying" in a roleplay scenario (e.g., being downed and reaching the point of respawn), your character loses all memory of the specific events that led to their death, including the identity of their attackers and the motives behind the conflict.
- Scene Abandonment: You are strictly prohibited from returning to the location where you died until the original scenario has completely concluded. You must not attempt to recover items, seek vengeance, or rejoin the conflict.
- Duration: The NLR applies for the duration of the current scene. If a scene is still active, you must remain away from the vicinity entirely.
- Exceptions: The only exception to memory loss is if you are revived by EMS without reaching the state of "death" (respawning at a hospital). In that instance, your character retains their memory, but should still roleplay the injuries sustained.
Attempting to "re-learn" information you lost through NLR—such as asking friends to tell you what happened or using OOC information to find your killers—is a form of Metagaming and will be treated as such.
Revenge Killing
Returning to a scene after respawning to retaliate against those who killed you is a severe violation of the New Life Rule. This behavior ruins the narrative flow and will result in strict administrative penalties.
